Thanks to Jon my PC is back from the grave and my new hard drive (186 gigs) is working. Tempature still seems to be high so I may buy a new CPU fan just to be on the safe side. We’ll see how things go in the next few days.

30°C is normal idle, 40°C is normal full load. I sent you a link to a new fan. Perhaps the dust and dog hair is causing it. I’ll to find additional solutions, but in the mean time, that $10 fan should help out.
