Buffy Saint Marie

Buffy Saint Marie
May 1999 – December 2006

Today is a sad one. Buffy had gotten so sick we didn’t have a choice but to put her to sleep. She’d had a very hard month and it just got to be too much for her to take. Her breathing was labored, her thyroid was out of wack and today she couldn’t stand up on her own. Buffy spent the last 2 days at the vet as she was at her worst on Friday.

To spare all the details, just know that she was very sick and it was her time. I feel terrible about it, this morning was really awful. She was only 7 1/2, I know she did her best to stay with us. I looked into her eyes today and new she just wasn’t the same, the light in her eyes had gone. She hasn’t been the same Buffy in awhile. I feel numb about it now, it’s hard to take in that she isn’t here anymore.

For a long time I debated on being with her to the very end, to be with her if we had to help her go. I couldn’t do it thought. I thought I would be able to, but it was too overwhelming. I couldn’t even put words into the right order. She never liked to be alone and I felt like I should be right there when she went to sleep for the last time. Her leaving has so much pain and it was just beyond me to actually see her go.

But this is really just the negative, so let’s move on to what she really was. Buffy loved life and every single person she met. A real people pup she loved attention, to give and receive and just being with others. Simply hanging out was a good time for her. Her existence was as pure as you can get. No hate, no judgment. just love. Sure she had some annoying tendencies (loved a hand out, could raid a garbage can in quick order if you’re not looking and fancied a good sock or two), but who doesn’t? A soul from a saint and the personality of an angel.

The time since we got her when she was 8 weeks old to this very day was a joy with her. We will all miss you Buffy, from the bottom of my heart thank you for being with us. I hope you can now rest and some time down the line, I expect to see you on the other side. Thank you Buffy.

Love Always,
Nick

I missed meeting Fieldy by 5 minutes

Matt went to Starlight 17 to get a tattoo today, along with the usual suspects. I get a text message that says there is a “surprise” for me when I get there. I was at Best Buy at the time and got some food, so I was in no real rush to get there. So I finally get a call from Bagels at about 3 saying that Fieldy, the bassist for Korn is at Starlight. So I haul ass and got there a few minutes after he left. 17 was a mess with traffic, so it took extra long to get there.

Korn was in town to film an Unplugged for MTV which should be airing next month. He left to catch a plane back West but I got word that JD is going to be there in January. I’m in the loop so I fully expect me meet one of my heros next month. Fieldy signed and tattooed Kyles leg, his first ever tattoo. Came out well and looks pretty good next to kyles’ Korn tattoo. There is pics and video of it too.

I was so close!

It’s the official Lazy Sunday

Last night was more dramatic than I thought it would be, Buffy made her toe bleed again and I had to take her back to the vet to get patched up. She came out with a bandaged foot and one of those cone collars that she definatly did not appreciate. Took that off when we got home and hung out for the rest of the night with Jon, Brian and Kyle. Went to bed late and I just did some things and took care of Buffy so now the rest of the day is devoted to straight up chilling. It was freezing in here so I had to turn on the heat. Should be a nice calm evening tonight, maybe watch a movie or two and see if anything good is on tv tonight.

The Tony Hawk 8 demo went up yesterday for 360 as did Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3! I bought that and now I need a move list since I’ve forgotten how to do anything since the game came out 13 years ago. Can’t believe it’s been that long.

Steve Irwin

As if everybody doesn’t know already, Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter was killed today by a stingray while filming a new documentary. I think everyone is amazed a crocodile didn’t finally get him, but no matter what his death is a great loss. Cruising on the edge of danger for most of his life it’s amazing a creature that spends most of it’s life keep it real did him the most harm. He was doing what he loved, something we should all admire. Life really is something.

R.I.P Mr. Irwin and best wishes to his family.

Summer, we hardly knew you

It’s offically September, but it is Labor day weekend so we still have good weather! Yeah right. Summer ended last freaking week. The sun basically hasn’t been seen in these parts in a week. Dreary and 70 degrees at the most, nights you’re looking at 60. Winter always hangs around forever and fall never wants to give summer a chance. All in all, it’s been a crap summer. We didn’t get summer weather until mid June! Winter better not be brutal this year, I can’t take it.

Hope you live on a hill

Because it’s been raining for 5 days now. It drizzles, then stops, then rains, then stops, then poors, then stops. 5 straight days without seeing the sun, this is a horrible way to end the summer. I hope that hurricane doesn’t fuck up the east coast too bad.

Also, if anyone is looking to buy a wedding dress, please contact me. I got it posted up on craigslist for North Jersey.

Worst Driver in the Tri-State Area

She (suprise!) had NY license plates on her minivan. I was going to work on Thursday, I’m making my way through Hillsdale and I come to a light where I want to make a left. She’s coming towards me and makes a sloooooow right hand turn, so she turned onto the street I’m turning on to.

She creeps around the corner and I am now behind her, following her. You know what this idiot does? The road we’re on is straight, and it has 2 streets that meet up with it. One on the right about 100 feet from he traffic light, and the next one is another 100 feet after that (a four way intersection, we have the right of way at both intersections).

We get to the first intersection and the woman STOPS. No blinker, she wasn’t turning. She stopped in the middle of the road to let the guy waiting for us to pass (he’s got the stop sign) so he could turn. He was on our right, he wanted to make a left onto our street, so he was going th opposite way. So I stop behind the genius and let out a WTF. We sit there and the guy wanting to make a turn looks dumb founded too. He figures it out and turns. The Stupid Woman continues foward. We come to the next intersection and she does it again.

No blinker, no warning, nothing, she just STOPS right fucking there to let someone who has a stop sign go. It was the dumbest, and most dangerous thing I’ve seen in a long time. This Stupid Woman has the right of way and is stopping at every fucking corner to wave people on! The guy behind me honks and I layed on my horn like a fucking crack fiend and let out a string of curses that would make a pirate do a double take. She takes the fucking hint and continues down the road as I make a right hand turn, still cursing.

I hope she gets a nose bleed that doesn’t stop.

July!

Summer, summer time! Time to kick back and unwind!

Some random updates from the top of my head. Script work continues. I’ve tightened up the beginning a bit and added about 3 pages. I’m right up to the killers introduction and in doing so I’ve realized that my original ending (everyone dies) just wouldn’t be satisfying. More than that, I think it would seem like there was no point to the whole story. My whole idea is to make something scary and realistic, avoid as many horror cliches as I can (and still keep it short). So even when I have the whole story done (I think I’ve come up some good work arounds to what I was going to have originally) I’m going to need to really fine tune it. I’ve got the locations down to about 3 places and the cast is small, although I do have a few bit parts that may go. Depends how it goes I guess.

I’m going to see Pirates 2 tomorrow I think, can’t wait to see it. A Scanner Darkley is also out but in limited release so odds are that one is going to have to wait for DVD. Clerks II hits this month too and Miami Vice….I want to see that for some reason.

Game wise, summer is it’s typical slow self. Big game for this month is Prey for PC and 360. Demo was pretty wild and the reviews I’ve seen have been positive. I started playing Burnout 4 again, still alot of fun. I’m currently 58% done according to the game so I still have a lot to do there.

Anyone who likes rock music has to check out the Wolfmother CD. It’s phenomenal. Easist way to describe it is The White Stripes and Led Zepplin. Really great, old school rock feel.

Big news this week, Jen is pregnant so that means I have another nephew or neice on the way. It’d be cool if it was a girl, nice to have one of each I think. That one isn’t due for another 8 months, so lots of exitement to come. Jen and Danny are visiting in August which is rapidly approaching. Summer months always go by so fast.
