Whoa 2 months

Didn’t realize I haven’t made a post in almost 2 months here! I think that’s the first time I’ve gone a whole month without an update.

I blame Facebook. I’ve been on it a lot more with me climbing the Mafia Wars ranks. I do very quick blurbs…nothing real substantial like I’ve done here. I guess I’ll just keep the more in depth stuff here, make more sense. If that makes any sense.

Been watching It’s Always Sunny season 4 before starting season 5. Love it. Got into Avatar: The Last Air Bender, almost done with the series, been plowing through discs. Great story, fantastic characters and action scenes. It’s so good to see an American cartoon that isn’t animated using Flash. It’s actually pleasant to look at, beautiful dare I say.

Now that fall TV is back, I’ll probably switch over to more movies on netflix, less story lines I’ll have to keep up with. Dexter and I think Californication start tonight, Sons of Anarchy has been great so far. Real good entertainment lately.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is my new favorite game and I just finished Red Faction: Guerrilla. Some of the best explosions in the business in that one.

More later (maybe).

Media updates

Got Stoked for 360, seems like it is better than Shaun White Snowboarding so far.

Nip/Tuck has finished it’s season and it was the best season in years. I expect them to bundle both halves of the season into a set, I’ll probably pick it up then. Season 6…2011?! Long wait for the end.

Breaking Bad starts it’s new season tonight on AMC! Awesome, awesome show.

The weather has been good this weekend, let’s hope Spring rolls up early.

Got a hold of the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album. Lots of synth, not sure what to make of it just yet.

Media Frenzy

I have so much shit to watch now, I don’t know where to start. Fringe and Lost are back. Nip/Tuck is off to a hell of a mid season start. Americas Best Dance Crew is back and could be the best season yet. Addicted to watching Sliders on Netflix Watch it Now along with 30 Rock. Just finished playing Prince of Persia and really dug it. And now I got Skate 2!

The cats from 1UP who lost their gigs have started back up doing their own shit…Rebel FM replaces 1UP Yours and CO-OP rises from the 1UP Show ashes.

And Obama is now offically The Man! Things are looking positive these days! PLUS! Slipknot at MSG in 2 weeks! AAHHHHHHHH!

NXE preview get!

I got into the New Xbox Experience on Friday. The new GUI for 360 goes live for everyone on Wed, but MS let something like 30,000 users in early.

It’s awesome. It is better in everyway, I wouldn’t want to go back to the old blade dashboard. Everything is organized much better, it’s at least twice as fast and it looks really nice. People had a knee jerk reaction to the avatars back at E3, but it’s really in the background. He stands there in front of one section in “My Xbox” and you see them when scrolling through the graphical list of your friends. Right now the only bad part is the very limited selection of clothes. There is not enough choices for the millions of avatars coming next week.

There are bits of new features that are cool.

Ripping full games to the HD is pretty cool. No dvd drive noise and in most cases games load faster. But that gobbles up memory so now I’m looking to get a 120 gig HD for as cheap as I can find.

You can now have the tray close with a game in but not boot up until you tell it too (nice).

The Guide now looks like the old blade dashboard. You can access just about every feature the system does from there, which is fantastic and it’s very fast.

Parties! You and 7 other friends can now voice chat at once. You can all be doing something different, and then say you want to play a game together. Party leader pops the game in and in one button you send out a group invite. Everyone loads up and you can either stay in the party chat or use the voice system in the game you’re playing. Great implementation that beats Sony’s Home to the punch without announcing it 2 years ago and still making users wait.

And the huge one: Netflix On demand integration. Takes about 2 minutes to set up and your Instant queue is right there. Scroll through movie covers, you get all the details of the film right in front of you and in 30 seconds or less, the movie or tv show starts playing. It’s brilliant. Just need a Netflix and XBL Gold membership to get it to work.

Congrats to MS for a job well done. Now the question is, can the network handle the pounding it’s going to get on Wednesday?

Another one down

Looks like my xbox 360 is starting to fade. Lock ups followed by the red ring of death. Sometimes it’ll work fine for awhile and other times it’ll freeze after just few minutues. Probably hit up Best Buy on Saturday to swap it. Sucks.

Microsoft Press Conference

It was awesome, that is all.

Okay, a little more.

This years conference was worlds better than last years. The Netflix partnership is what I’ve been hoping for, it’s going to rule. I’ve wanted to use the on demand feature on my TV since it started. It’s just a matter of time until they can up the resolution for playback. THANK YOU for only requiring a Netflix sub, so awesome. Sick to get new movies on DVD and catalog shit whenever (they have a lot too).

Also awesome is MS coming out of left field with the best and essential parts of Home without the horseshit. Unless Sony says Home is coming out in the fall, they’ve just been bitch slapped something fierce.

I don’t mind how the new dash looks, don’t know how themes will be integrated and I think it’ll take some hands on time to see if it really works better. If it does, I’m all for it. The guide being like the blade is cool to, since I like the blade dashboard.

Fallout 3 was disappointing, GOW2 looks fucking AWESOME (Horde mode sounds great), Fable 2 looks a lot better than the last time I saw it. Stupid demo though, way too short and didn’t show anything new. The co-op “glowing orb to join” thing was pretty wild though. The new Portal expansion is a really big get. And RE5 is looking great. Reminds me of RE0 though.

At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if a blu-ray drive wasn’t coming.

And FF13 is shocking, didn’t think Sony would let that happen. Sony has to have something tomorrow to counter it.

What a week!

Work is busy as hell, the shit coming in is more than we can handle.

I got an LG Voyager for a great price and a week early. Short impressions: it rules.

Burnout Paradise comes out next week! Left 4 Dead has been delayed to fucking OCTOBER!

I got a new Pioneer head unit to directly connect my Zen. The CD changer is going into the garbage and the rest of the equipment is going to be moved around. That gets done on Tuesday.

3 shows (or so) into Korns’ world tour, Munky has taken a leave. Apparently a family member (his father from what I’ve heard) is very sick. So he’s back in the states for however long he needs. Take the time you need James, come back strong and healthy.

Dad continues to make progress. He’s walking better, his rehab is hard work but it looks like he’s on track to play golf in March.
