Somebody wasn’t paying attention

The camera guy had to have set Palin up, there is no other way.

Jump to about 2:30 to get to the point. This stupid turkey pardoning ritual that goes down every Thanksgiving season is enough as it is. But this is just a whole new level as Dumbell Palin gives a post interview outside of the turkey pen only to blabber on right in front of turkeys being slaughtered for food! Look at the guy holding the turkey upside down as the gore pours out of the stupid thing! “Am I on TV? Are they getting this shit? I can’t be in frame….am I? They wouldn’t do that. Nah, they wouldn’t.”

She’s still the butt of a joke even when she’s completely irrelevant now.

Microsoft Press Conference

It was awesome, that is all.

Okay, a little more.

This years conference was worlds better than last years. The Netflix partnership is what I’ve been hoping for, it’s going to rule. I’ve wanted to use the on demand feature on my TV since it started. It’s just a matter of time until they can up the resolution for playback. THANK YOU for only requiring a Netflix sub, so awesome. Sick to get new movies on DVD and catalog shit whenever (they have a lot too).

Also awesome is MS coming out of left field with the best and essential parts of Home without the horseshit. Unless Sony says Home is coming out in the fall, they’ve just been bitch slapped something fierce.

I don’t mind how the new dash looks, don’t know how themes will be integrated and I think it’ll take some hands on time to see if it really works better. If it does, I’m all for it. The guide being like the blade is cool to, since I like the blade dashboard.

Fallout 3 was disappointing, GOW2 looks fucking AWESOME (Horde mode sounds great), Fable 2 looks a lot better than the last time I saw it. Stupid demo though, way too short and didn’t show anything new. The co-op “glowing orb to join” thing was pretty wild though. The new Portal expansion is a really big get. And RE5 is looking great. Reminds me of RE0 though.

At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if a blu-ray drive wasn’t coming.

And FF13 is shocking, didn’t think Sony would let that happen. Sony has to have something tomorrow to counter it.

Movies

I’m on a great movie roll. I watched Jumper and thought it was neat, teleportation is just a cool concept. I’d like to see a Nightcrawler movie now. Wanted is a ton of fun, Angelina is still super sexy. Wall E is some of Pixars’ finest work and now Hellboy II is up this week. Love Guerelmo del Toro and it looks like II is going to be leaps and bounds better than the first.

THEN. Batman: Dark Knight on IMAX on the 18th.

I’ve started watching The Wire on DVD, Weeds continues to entertain, Dance Crew has been solid so far and Top Gear is having a fantastic season.

Nip/Tuck season finale

ooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhh shit! Last nights episode was INTENSE. Matt is in a heap of a mess with his step sister, he can’t get a normal relationship to save his life. Christian hooks up with an old fling (his new daughters mother) and she ain’t got no legs. Plus he gets into a car accident with Annie. Eden shoots Julia and her ass goes into a coma, then wakes up with amnesia (holy shit who let them do the oldest TV cliche on the planet). And finally, Colleen goes all the way over the edge and stabs the shit out of Sean. Just insane. Turns out they are calling this the full season 5 as the writers strike cut off the last 8 episodes. DVD hits in May so they’ll call the last 8 ordered episodes as Season 6 (maybe add 6 more episodes to give a full season to end the series?)

Odds are we are done with Nip/Tuck until 2009! At least I have Dirt and The Riches to look forward to.

Because everyone one the planet needs to see this

Despite the writers strike, Conan has continued to kick ass. As seen by the proof above. Now the writers strike is over (thank god) the load will be taken off Conan and TV can start to get back into the swing of things. 6-8 weeks is the window we’re looking at here, 8 weeks being the most likely. This season is all screwed up so it’s a bit of a wash, a few shows are going to end up getting 6 more episodes.

I’ve started watching the new show Breaking Bad and AMC, and it’s fantastic. Stars the dad from Malcom in the Middle who plays a high school chem teacher who turns to making meth to make ends meet after finds out he has terminal lung cancer. It’s a tiny bit like Weeds, but different enough to set itself apart. Fantastic acting and writing from top to bottom.

Nip/Tuck has been fucking phenominal for the past few weeks. No real way around it. Last nights episode was killer, the final episode filmed is next week. Looks like they timed it just right, I’m hoping we get the remaining 8 episodes that were ordered last year.

All of this brought to you by the wonders of DVR. Turns TV into DVD, worth every cent.

Awesome TV

My Name is Earl- I’m on disc 3 of Season 2 and it still rules.

The Office (US)- Awesome that NBC is smart enough to put new episodes on their site on Fridays. Quality is really good too. Anyway, the show is strong as ever, it’s a definite must watch. Home to one of the best ensemble casts in TV history.

Weeds- Season 3 is running now and it, just like the aforementioned shows still rules.

Nip/Tuck- Season 5 starts at the end of the month, looking forward to it is an understatement.

reciept update

Dad talked to a manager at Frontier and he says that they know they didn’t give us an engine replacement, that receipt lists things that were ordered in total. That sort of makes sense, but the separate lamp they ordered isn’t on there. And for comfort sake I’d want that in writing because it’d still be easy to screw us over when the time comes to get a new lamp. Speaking of the lamp, I found out how to get into the service menu of the tv, and the counter for the lamp said it was at about 600 hours. I can’t believe that’s correct. I thought for sure it’d be something like 1500 hours in the time we’ve had it. Watched a lot of movies and played a lot of games… I’ll check the counter again in a week to see what kind of time is being put on the TV and figure out an average in the next month or so.bage

4 weeks and 4 days

The TV actually works now! But Frontier is easily the worst company I have ever had to deal with in my life. They are liars and judging by some shady shit on the receipt, cheats as well.

The guy was 2 hours late to start with. 11-3 huh? Good to see you at 5. The “digital board” was the culporate. After some questionable looking methods to get the DB out, (he was using the screwdriver as a pry bar) he got the new one in and it kick on right away. Spin the tv around, plug shit back in and the Samsung lights again. 4 weeks and 4 days later after it died.

Now the reciept says that they replaced the “digital board” (correct) and the “Light Engine” (completely false). They ordered the light engine for fixing round #2 (which was almost 2 weeks ago) which as we all know, wasn’t the problem. Just like the bulb they brought the first time, they took it out and put the orignal light engine back into the set. So that reciept says they gave us a part that they took back! The Light Engine has a new bulb as part of the assembly so they could very possible try to fuck us over when the light actually does burn out (around $145 for a bulb)! The extended warranty we have from Best Buy means we get one bulb replacement as part of the deal. So according to how the receipt is now, they could tell us that the bulb was replaced because we got a new light engine. Which is horseshit.

So 2 things: it’s an honest mistake on the reciept. It could just take quick call to fix and we’re all good. OR they really are trying to scam us and best buy(best buy approves payment for all parts). If we didn’t watch them do everything, we would never know. By saying we have that light engine and they still have it, they could try to sell it to someone else or something.

The whole situation and really that whole company is really shady. There is an entire week of bullshit on Frontiers part. The week we left for California, I called Frontier about the part that was supposed to be ordered the previous Thursday (the day the tech was there and had the wrong part, the Light Engine). The girl told me that the part was ordered on Friday and they were waiting to get it, they’d call us when they got it in. Jump forward to that Saturday when we’re in CA and dad calls Frontier, they say they don’t have it and so he calls the Best Buy hotline number we have. They hadn’t heard from Frontier, they didn’t know what was going on. What the fuck? BB says they’re going to call Frontier and get back to us within 72 days. Tuesday Best Buy tells us they’ve talked to Fronter and are waiting on A NEW ESTIMATE to see if the tv can be fixed or just be replaced (see my previous blog post). Can anyone logically explain that? What the fuck did Frontier do that week? Why was I told the part was ordered when it never was? Best Buy approves everything they do and they didn’t know anything about that week we were waiting! If we never called where would we be right now?

So that brings us to last Friday where Frontier calls to tell us that they are coming on monday (today). So that’s where we are at. The TV is fixed but it looks like this isn’t over.

TV: Fixed on Monday?

It’s safe to say that Frontier did nothing for our case last week. After being lied to that the part was ordered a week ago, we find that best buy didn’t know wtf was going on. So they talked to Frontier and told us they were waiting for a new estimate on if the tv should be fixed or replaced. Friday we were told that they are coming on Monday with the necessary (lol!) parts. So if they fuck this up again, it’s safe to say we are getting a new set on them.

TV: Still Busted, Best Buy Warranty: Shitty

Quick rundown on the tv situation. It broke on Thursday, March 2nd. I didn’t think it was the lamp that was giving the trouble (DLP HDTV). Called the Best Buy Warranty hotline that night, they got in touch with the repair place in our area that they are hooked up with (Frontier something in Hackensack. Monday the 6th, tech dude comes with a new lamp and I’m right, it’s not the lamp. Said he’s gonna put in the order for a new circuit board, a whole new part for the TV basically. We wait a few days from there and call to see what’s up. Frontier says they will call us when the part comes in.

So what’s happened in the past week since the tech was here? Basically nothing. It’s the 12th today and we haven’t heard a word from anyway, we’re getting very close to 2 weeks of having a busted tv. After getting the run around from Samsung, Frontier and Best Buy (who will all blame each other and say they can’t do shit because it’s the other parties part in the chain that is being slow).

After pulling some teeth we find out that Frontier waited 2 days (Wed. the 8th) to submit a request to best buy to ok payment for the new part (think it’s a few hundred dollars). Best Buy took until Friday (the 10th) to approve the part. Shit head Frontier waited until TODAY to put in an order to Samsung for the part. So it will be 3-5 business days until they get the part. So we’re basically looking at getting the tech here on Friday if we’re lucky. Oh, and Frontier doesn’t send out techs on Saturdays. So if they don’t get the part by Thursday, we’re looking at Monday, the 19th for a repair date.

Money wise it’s not costing us anything to get the tv fixed but the time is totally unacceptable. Frontier doesn’t care with their shit service. I peg them as the worse offender here. Sitting on a work order for 2 days, no communication and lying about what stage they are on. And the woman answering the phone over there is a snooty bitch. Last “big ticket” item we purchase from Best Buy.
