After missing a full two months of any updates here (the longest ever, I missed 1 full month once before a few years ago) I made December a prolific one. Didn’t realize how much stuff I had stored up, feels good to write on a more regular basis. You really do get rusty, I was really flowing by the last updates I did.
No New Year resolutions, as I have done for awhile now. Why ball it all up for a goofy line at the beginning of a year? Just impress yourself every chance you get.
My favorite season always goes by so fast. Last week was a downer weather wise, it rained for about 4 days straight. That put a sour ending to an other wise fun visit from my sister and niece and nephew. Being cooped up in the house all day is no good for a 3 and 6 year old. The day after they left the sunshine came back and summer is now giving the Northeast at least one more heat wave. Been about 90 for the past 3 days but the humidity isn’t bad. Really nice, I’m enjoying it while it lasts.
Tomorrow is September already! Last quarter of the year and work is about to get really brutal.
A few posts ago I talked about how stupid Ticketmaster is set up. Well, it did all work out in the end. I got them emailed to me on Sunday…through the phone agent. The same people that said they couldn’t switch my order to TicketFast service weeks prior on multiple occasions. Yeah, makes sense to me too.
Ordered Mayhem Festival Tickets on June 4th. I still haven’t recieved them in the mail yet. Safe to say they are lost in the mail. If you call TM, they say they can cancel those tickets and you can pick them up at the venues’ box office the day of the show. Kinda dumb. Emailing TM, they can switch your mail order to TicketFast, which is they email it to you and you print it out. Except they are so insanely slow in replying to emails! Why the hell do the phone agents and the email agents use 2 different systems? The phone agents can’t switch it to TicketFast for some idiotic reason, only box office pickup. Who thought that was a good idea? Since the tickets were so cheap I went all in and got VIP parking, which are also lost. So that’s great, I’ll probably need to park on the moon, hoof it to get all the shit that should already be in my hand, then go back to the moon and drive to my reserved spot. What a pain in the ass.
I sent the first email on July 6th. Got a reply back on the 8th. I asked a question back (which was a mistake, instead of just giving the info they needed to switch to TicketFast). After waiting 2 days I sent another reply with my info on the 10th. I got a reply to my question (that was sent on the 8th) on the 14th. I sent the info again on the 14th in a panic thinking they didn’t get my other email with the info they wanted or they just have their head up their ass. Either is possible. So the 14th was the last response and it’s now the 20th and still nothing.
Why is this process so backwards? I just want to show up and have fun, not worry about jumping through 6 hoops when I get there.
It’s been a week since I had the PTK procedure (surgery?) done on my left I. It was unpleasant. It’s kinda like going to the dentist. You can think of a million things you’d rather be doing, but it’s not that bad. It only takes 5 minutes to remove the scar and a laser was used in the last bit, for what I have no idea. It was literally a few seconds and then it was clean up, put a contact lens in to protect the open area and then it’s eyedrop mania. Had the contact lens off yesterday and now I have a different eye medication for the next 2 weeks, So the haze is gone but I have a some blurriness. It’s not that bad and it seems to be getting a little better everyday. The healing process is still in full effect so it’s going to be some time for my vision to stabilize. Hopefully this stupid thing works unlike last year, so the end game is out on that one right now. It should cost me a whole lot less even though the medication has cost $200 (which would have been almost 600 without insurance, which is insane). Should get a statement from the insurance company to see if they’re going to be useless or a real benefit.
Worked 2 days this week, Christmas was pretty quite for us this year, just a family dinner on Xmas day. Got Forza 3 (great), a year of xbox live, 20 bucks worth of MS points, a pen/LED flashlight/laser pointer, a sweater that is too big, and about $300.
Last night was the RHS Class of 1999 Reunion and it was a ton of fun. It was at the Brick House in town, first time I’ve been there even though the place is like 50 years old. Looks great, food was good to. Saw so many old friends I haven’t seen in 10 years it was a lot of fun to catch up and have a good time. I didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone I wanted to, but I got some new contact info from a few so that’s awesome. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years since high school, just about everyone looks the same still. Nice to know we aren’t that old. I talked about and remembered some far out stories from my childhood, that was something else to share. I actually miss a few people after having so much fun. Come to think of it, Facebook pretty much made it happen with a few go-getters who started the ball rolling. There were 32 people confirmed to come but I think there was close to 100 who showed up! Quite a few boyfriends/girlfriends/spouses to round it up, but it was a serious turn out for something that was put together about a month and a half ago.
The year is almost over and it went really fast. Too fast? I dunno, I had an average year at best. 2010 could be the year of change.
Beau got a sweet bed for his birthday. Hitting 2 years old graduated him to move out of his cage into the luxiourous lap of an Orvis fleece covered doughnut bed. It’s a little too small to hang out in, but to sleep in he’s in heaven. He curls up into it, uses the bolster around the bed as a pillow and he’s down for the night. It’s so comfortable he just hops in and plops right down. No circling or scratching at it to get it the way he wants like he does with rugs. It’s really inviting looking to be honest.
Been playing more games than movies lately. Into Left 4 Dead 2 a lot, just got Beatles Rock Band for awhile (the presentation is of the highest quality, a lot of love was put into it) and Forza 3 is tomorrow. Gonna hit up midnight mass tonight for the first time instead of going Christmas morning. Going to be a quite night thise Eve, tomorrow we hit up the relatives for dinner.
He was knocked for a loop for 2 days from surgery. Third day he made a big turn and was feeling more like himself and by the 6th day he had his bounce back to his step.
10th day the stitches came out (quick little vet visit) and so now he’s cruising around just a little bit lighter.
In other updates, I rebooted my computer yesterday and the net came back with it. So I will now say that the bug is gone. Haven’t updated anything so I have no idea what fixed it.
I got my rebate for the Droid on Friday. So that’s a hundo put back in the bank. I like that.
So the time came to get him neutered and that went down yesterday. Should have been done awhile ago, but I digress. He is now hiding underneith my bed. He’s in pain and wants to lick the incision and he really shouldn’t. Hopefully he won’t do any damage over night, he’s gotta get a cone tomorrow. Why the hell didn’t he get any medicine from the doc to help with pain and itching?
Feel bad for him, you can just look at him and see how bummed he is.
Didn’t realize I haven’t made a post in almost 2 months here! I think that’s the first time I’ve gone a whole month without an update.
I blame Facebook. I’ve been on it a lot more with me climbing the Mafia Wars ranks. I do very quick blurbs…nothing real substantial like I’ve done here. I guess I’ll just keep the more in depth stuff here, make more sense. If that makes any sense.
Been watching It’s Always Sunny season 4 before starting season 5. Love it. Got into Avatar: The Last Air Bender, almost done with the series, been plowing through discs. Great story, fantastic characters and action scenes. It’s so good to see an American cartoon that isn’t animated using Flash. It’s actually pleasant to look at, beautiful dare I say.
Now that fall TV is back, I’ll probably switch over to more movies on netflix, less story lines I’ll have to keep up with. Dexter and I think Californication start tonight, Sons of Anarchy has been great so far. Real good entertainment lately.
Batman: Arkham Asylum is my new favorite game and I just finished Red Faction: Guerrilla. Some of the best explosions in the business in that one.
After thinking about it for 2 months, the big day finally came. My 5th (and best) Korn show. Went with Bagels and Kyle, we had a room at The Showboat which the House of Blues is in. We had a room on the 19th floor and just had to take the elevator to the 2nd floor to get to the music hall, it was right out of the elevator bank, it was perfect. Small venue, I think there was around 1,200 in attendance. The balcony was almost full, but the floor was packed.
I got a Meet and Greet pass through the Korn fanclub and got to go backstage. Orginazation wasn’t the strong suit. The ticket said security would take you to the meeting spot at the merch booth, but I was just let in to find it myself. I headed to the back where I saw a group of people and saw the merch table, just to the right I saw a door with a security guy. He let me back where the wait began. I wish I brought the cover jacket for Fieldy’s book and the Alone I Play DVD, the ticket only said to bring one thing to sign and no camera (I brought a camera though). I could have easily gotten them signed. So there were like 12 of us standing in this hallway waiting and then Ray and Fieldy came out from the right (I was further down the line on the left).
Ray is awesome, he signed my ticket. Really nice, I told him welcome to Korn and he seemed to appreciate it. Then I met Fieldy, got my Freak on a Leash Mixes vinyl signed (it looks great awesome signed). I mentioned Kyles tattoo that he did and he remembered! Said he wanted to see it! Never got to see him again though. Kyle and Brian were around the venue at the time, I missed it when Fieldy went out the door to the merch table to sign some books (Munky came out then and I was distracted). They totally could have got to him then. I was juggling all of this shit and didn’t know what was happening, should have thought about it more. I was kinda on a high being backstage, it felt really surreal. Munky came by and he’s awesome too (of course). I turned into a babbling ass, I had so much to say and was just like “You’re awesome! Korn! Korn? Yeah Korn!” He laughed, signed the vinyl and asked where I got it. Got a great pic with him too (they all came out well actually). Jon took some more time to come out, but he didn’t stop to take any pictures. Hellos, hand shakes and signatures down the line. He gave me a warm hello when he saw me, we shook hands, got his signature and I said I was at the 2nd stop of his Alone I Play Tour and asked if Korn is going to come to Rock Band (“I think they are working on it now”). He moseyed through, then everyone took off. That was close to 9:30 the opening act Burning Halo was just finishing up (nothing special).
At 10:11pm Korn hit the stage and shook the place to its foundation!

It was pretty much an old school set list. They sounded so amazing, the 10 month break really helped energize them. Ray is PERFECT for Korn. Since David left in 2006 they’ve been working with 3 other drummers, but Ray really gets it. He has David’s style perfectly. Perfect timing and tempo, plays hard as hell. He’s got a great looking kit for the tour and was breaking sticks left and right and never missed a beat. He’s just a fantastic drummer. This is Shane Gibsons, shit 6th tour? with them along with Zac. And he has really loosened up and knows Heads parts backwards and forwards. He just shreds and stomps around like a madman. I couldn’t see Zac because the speaker stack was blocking him. Fieldy was just on fire, he has got to be the most entertaining musician to watch. He’s got all of these awesome moves as he plays, hopping around, just jamming and having a ball. He has a great time playing with Ray, they have awesome new sections to Somebody Someone and a killer intro to Freak on a Leash that really needs to be released on DVD or something. It’s fast and heavy (Fieldy goes nuts, it’s awesome) and then they slow it down to drop into Freak. Munky has a new face paint and tweed jacket going on, he was as solid as he always is (even broke out the robot at one point!). And Jonathan Davis! His voice has never been stronger. He sounds just like the albums. His range is insane, I don’t know how he can yell and not shred his throat doing it. Good God gave me chills, you can see him go to that head space where he first wrote that song years ago. Just totally getting into it, rocking his mic stand all over the place (they tie it down with rubber cords!) Just a killer show, you could see they were having fun! They sound so tight and strong that I have huge hopes for the album they are working on now, hopefully they finish it this year (this tour is going well into July).
The crowd was great too. The balcony took some time to get into it, but we got it bouncing pretty good. For the encore I ran down the 8 rows with Kyle to get right to the guardrail of the balcony. Greatest idea ever. Like 25 feet in the air, 35 feet from the stage. Speaker stack was right there, but it still sounded awesome. Looking down I could see people getting trucked left and right, but they got picked up quickly by others. There was a huge bitch running around down there whipping guys with a belt or her bra or some shit like that. She was a beast. The security front a center was busy pulling crowd surfers down the whole show, that looked like a pain in the ass. They did that for just under an hour and a half.
Had a great time and really liked the House of Blues, they run a good venue. Too bad Atlantic City is so shady.
